Wisdom Teeth

What are wisdom teeth?

Third molars are commonly referred to as wisdom teeth.  The wisdom teeth are usually the last teeth to develop, typically between the middle teenage years and early twenties.  They are located in the back of the mouth.  For many of us, our wisdom teeth do not fully develop and fit properly in our mouths. Malpositioned wisdom teeth can lead to crowding, infection, and gradual decay.

Wisdom teeth can be removed for a simple healing process.  An incision is made around the tooth and the third molar may be extracted whole or in pieces. The area is then stitched up so that the site can return to a healthy state. Full recovery is expected in about 2 weeks.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office.
