Meet Dr. Robert Schwartz ...
Dr. Schwartz is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 1975, he joined the practice of Dr. Benjamin J. Gans (now deceased) and Dr. Roger H. Kallal, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates. He became a partner in 1980.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Los Angeles, California, he completed his dental training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He served two and one-half years in the United States Navy Dental Corps. Dr. Schwartz completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. He has been actively involved with residency education since that time. He presently is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, and maintains a full-time private practice where he provides the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
His special area of interest is major reconstructive maxillofacial surgery, including comprehensive implant rehabilitation, bone grafting procedures, orthognathic surgery, and temporomandibular joint surgery, encompassing arthroscopic, reconstructive, and total joint replacement. He is the author of several publications and a major contributor to chapters in oral and maxillofacial surgical textbooks. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States as well as internationally. He has completed six years as an examiner on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Schwartz has a strong commitment to continuing education, not only as an educator, but also as a student himself.
Dr. Schwartz currently holds hospital staff appointments at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Hinsdale Hospital and Ingalls Memorial Hospital. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Schwartz is married to his lovely wife, Barbara and is the proud father of six children and two grandchildren. He is an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoys golf, downhill skiing, fishing, traveling, and cooking for relaxation.
