Practice Background

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates was founded by the late Dr. Benjamin J. Gans. Dr. Gans immigrated from Drzsec, Poland, in 1936. He received his DDS degree from St. Louis University School of Dentistry in 1946. He completed his residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, under the direction of Dr. Orion Stuteville. He developed his private practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery in the early 1950’s. He served on the teaching programs of Loyola University, Northwestern University, the University of Illinois, and Cook County Hospital. In 1972, he established the residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center.

Dr. Gans believed in a humanistic aspect of patient care along with applying a biological basis to the diagnosis and treatment of patients. He instilled this belief in all those whom he taught and with whom he practiced. It is our desire to continue emphasizing Dr. Gans’ professional principles in our practice.
